Jim Hogan
Jim Hogan has worked in the semiconductor design and manufacturing industry for more than 33 years, serving as a senior executive in electronic design automation, semiconductor intellectual property, semiconductor equipment, and fabrication companies. Jim currently serves as chairman at Solido Design Automation and as director at Scoperta, Nimbic and Tela Innovations.
Jim also has held a variety of executive and board positions at several companies, including director at Altos Design Automation, managing partner at Telos Venture Partners, senior VP of business development at Artisan Components, and senior VP of business development and the senior member of the office of chief technologist at Cadence. Jim holds a BA degree in mathematics, a BS degree in computer science and an MBA, all from San Jose State University.
Jim Derbyshire
Jim Derbyshire is a serial entrepreneur with 23 years of high tech board experience. Most recently, Jim served as Chairman and CEO of Veridae Systems (Vancouver, BC, Canada), an EDA company acquired in June 2011 by Tektronix. Previously, he was Chairman and CEO of SiGe Semiconductor (Ottawa, ON, Canada and Andover, MA, USA), acquired by Skyworks, and Director and CEO of Symbionics and its subsidiary companies (Cambridge, UK), one of which was an IP and software licensing company acquired by Cadence Design. During his career, Jim has been on the boards of companies in the USA, Canada, Hong Kong, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. He has also worked for, and raised large rounds from, venture capital organizations and built successful business partnerships with leading companies in the US, Asia and Europe.
Raj Singh
Raj Singh is a seasoned semiconductor executive and currently serves as the General Manager of the Wireless Broadband Group at Cavium Inc. (NASDAQ: CAVM), one of ForbesTop 5 fastest growing companies.
Previously he was President and CEO of Wavesat Inc. a semiconductor startup focused on next generation 4G chipsets. He has held executive positions at Mosys Inc (NASDAQ: MOSY) and Virage Logic (NASDAQ: VIRL) (acquired by Synopsys (NASDAQ:SNPS)).
He also previously co-founded 3DLabs Inc. one of the successful semiconductor IPOs of the 1990s where he was Executive VP & General Manager.
Matthew Raggett
Matthew Raggett, a veteran of the semiconductor and electronic design automation (EDA) industries, is a managing partner of ADAUS Ventures Inc. He has served as president and CEO of Analog Design Automation, which was acquired by Synopsys (SNPS) in 2004. Prior to ADA Matthew was part of the management team that led the successful spinout of inSilicon(INSN) from Phoenix Technologies and its later IPO. At inSilicon, which was later acquired by Synopsys, he held the position of vice president of worldwide field operations. Matthew has held management positions at Cadence Design Systems, National Semiconductor, Fairchild Semiconductor, and ITT Telecommunications. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of several EDA companies including Javelin Design Automation, Inc. and LogicVision (LGVN).
Dan Baldwin
Dan Baldwin is a corporate director and consultant. Mr. Baldwin serves on the board of directors of several private Canadian companies and is the Chair of the board of directors for a public Canadian company. Mr. Baldwin spent eleven years as a senior executive with SaskTel Telecommunications with broad responsibility for strategy, product and business development and investments and acquisitions. Prior to that Mr. Baldwin had extensive capital market experience with the Province of Saskatchewan. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Saskatchewan.
Glenn Egan
BDC’s Information and Communication Technologies investment activities are led by Glenn Egan who joined BDC Venture Capital in 2000. Glenn brings 20 years of operational experience to the position including 15 years in wireless products and services. Prior to joining BDC, he spent 3 years as Vice President, Business Development for EMS Technologies. He spent the previous 12 years in various senior positions with wireless carriers including a wireless start-up.
Glenn holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Engineering from the University of Waterloo and a MBA from the University of Western Ontario.
Rae Haverstock
Since May 2008, Rae Haverstock has served as the Managing Director for CIC Asset Management Inc. (previously known as Investment Saskatchewan). Rae is also the Assistant Deputy Minister for the Treasury and Debt Management Division of Saskatchewan Finance.
Rae first joined the Saskatchewan Government in March 1974, and has held a number of positions since that time. He worked with the Capital Markets Branch of Saskatchewan Finance starting in April 1986, first as an Associate Director and then as Director. From July 1993 to September 1994, Rae served as the Executive Director of Treasury Board Branch. He returned to the Capital Markets Branch as Executive Director, with responsibility for debt origination, liability and risk management, and investment management activities associated with the Province’s sinking funds. He was also General Manager of the Saskatchewan Municipal Financing Corporation.
Rae Haverstock received his Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1973, majoring in economics and accounting.
Tyler Bradley
Tyler Bradley has 9 years of experience in venture capital and corporate finance in start-up and growth stage companies. Prior to joining the Westcap team in 2007, Mr. Bradley was an Investment Analyst for a seed-stage investment fund from 2005 to 2007, where he was responsible for new investments and portfolio management. Between 2001 and 2005, Mr. Bradley worked in various corporate finance roles with start-up and growth-stage companies. Mr. Bradley received his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) candidate. Mr. Bradley is an active member and Director for the Saskatchewan Young Professionals & Entrepreneurs.
Amit Gupta
Amit Gupta is co-founder, President & CEO of Solido Design Automation Inc. In 1999, he co-founded Analog Design Automation Inc. (ADA), a startup for semiconductor design software. Over the next five years, as President & CEO and VP Marketing and Business Development, he helped the company grow through periods of target market identification, initial prototype development, field trial successes, product commercialization and launch, sales generation with quarterly revenue growth and acquisition by Synopsys Inc. To fund this growth, he raised investment from venture capital and government sources.
Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, he was product manager for the wireless group at Nortel Networks and a hardware engineer for the RF Communications group at Harris Corporation. He graduated with degrees in both Electrical Engineering and Computer Science with great Distinction from the University of Saskatchewan. He was awarded the 2005 outstanding alumni award for significant accomplishments since graduation.
