Jim Rutt was formerly CEO of Network Solutions Inc., (acquired by VeriSign Inc., NASDAQ: VRSN) which administered domain name spaces on the Internet. He co-founded Business Research Corp., which developed online information products for the investment community. Rutt also was the co-founder of First Call and has served as CEO of Thomson Technology Services Group; and CTO of the Thomson Corporation (TSE: TOC) as well as, Chief Strategy Officer of VeriSign, Inc. Rutt received his bachelor's degree in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a vice chairman of the Santa Fe Institute. He was also a researcher in residence at the institute, where he studied the application of complexity science to financial markets, social simulations and artificial intelligence.
Larry Lam is Director,Technology Seed Investments at BDC working in the early stage technology investing group of BDC Venture Capital. Prior to joining BDC, he held senior marketing and R&D management positions in several early stage companies including Intelligent Photonics Control, SiCon Video, Symagery Microsystems and Semiconductor Insights. Lam currently sits on the boards of six technology companies. He holds an MBA from Queen’s University and a Bachelor in Applied Sciences (Electrical Engineering) from the University of Waterloo.
Matthew Raggett, a veteran of the semiconductor and electronic design automation (EDA) industries, is a managing partner of ADAUS Ventures Inc. He has served as president and CEO of Analog Design Automation, which was acquired by Synopsys (SNPS) in 2004. Prior to ADA Matthew was part of the management team that led the successful spinout of inSilicon(INSN) from Phoenix Technologies and its later IPO. At inSilicon, which was later acquired by Synopsys, he held the position of vice president of worldwide field operations. Matthew has held management positions at Cadence Design Systems, National Semiconductor, Fairchild Semiconductor, and ITT Telecommunications. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of several EDA companies including Javelin Design Automation, Inc. and LogicVision (LGVN).
Mr. LaBerge joined Investment Saskatchewan in March 2006 and Victoria Park Capital in November 2006 as a Senior Investment Director, bringing both investment and operational experience. Mr. LaBerge spent eleven years managing pension fund assets, first on behalf of the Telus Pension Plan and then as Vice President Real Estate with Greystone Managed Investments. Mr. LaBerge relocated to Calgary in 1996 to join Copez Properties, a privately held real estate investment management company and later started Compradores, a supplier of high-end furniture and home accessories. Compradores grew to over 400 employees, three offices in China and seven wholesale showrooms in the United States. Mr. LaBerge holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation and serves on the Board of Directors of CLINICARE, Quantec Geoscience Limited, and Solido Design Automation Inc.
Ulrich Felbermayr is a Senior Investment Manager with Golden Opportunities Fund Inc., Saskatchewan's first and largest Provincial Labour Sponsored Venture Capital Fund with more than $105 million of assets under management. Mr. Felbermayr has significant experience working with venture capital investments in Saskatchewan and has been responsible for some of the Government of Saskatchewan's most successful investments in the biotech and life sciences sectors. He joined the Golden Opportunities team in 2003 from Crown Investments Corporation and prior to that had been at Saskatchewan Opportunities Corporation since 1998. Mr. Felbermayr was a successful Chartered Accountant for more than 13 years and owned his own accounting firm in Austria. In addition, Mr. Felbermayr worked in the banking sector in the area of private and commercial lending. Mr. Felbermayr serves on the board of directors of several private Canadian companies.
